BOOK REVIEW: “My Husband” by Maud Ventura

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

ABOUT THE BOOKS (from Amazon):

At forty years old, she has an enviable life: a successful career, stunning looks, a beautiful house in the suburbs, two healthy children, and most importantly, an ideal husband, whose wealthy background allows her to transcend her own social class. After fifteen years together, she is still besotted with him. But she’s never quite sure that her passion is reciprocated.

Determined to keep their relationship perfect, she meticulously prepares for every encounter they have, always taking care to make her actions seem effortless. She watches him attentively, testing him to make sure that he still loves her just as much as he did when they first met.

Until one day she realizes she may have gone too far . . .

My Husband” by Maud Ventura centers around a woman who is, to put it mildly, deeply obsessed with her husband. Her fixation is so intense that she reads all of his emails and rearranges his belongings to make him believe he’s forgetful. This obsession drives her to extreme behaviors, such as hiding his things only to “find” and bring them to him, reinforcing her indispensable presence in his life.

Throughout the story, there’s a constant tension fueled by her belief that he is on the verge of leaving her. This fear seems to justify her actions, at least in her mind, setting a captivating stage for the story’s progression. The psychological depth explored through her character is both unsettling and intriguing, offering a glimpse into the complexities of love, obsession, and the fear of abandonment.

While the book is in the “thriller” category on Amazon, calling it one might be a stretch. It’s more accurately described as a psychological exploration, with a twist that certainly adds an element of surprise but may not align with traditional thriller expectations.

I gave “My Husband” four stars. It was an interesting read. If you’re in search of a novel that delves deep into the psyche of an obsessively in-love protagonist and challenges your perceptions of normalcy within a relationship, this book will undoubtedly capture your interest.
