VIDEO TRANSCRIPT:
Welcome to another video book review. Today we are looking at The Five Second Rule by Mel Robbins.
This book is a very quick read. I read it, uh, just maybe 5 to 10 minutes every morning while I was doing the Miracle Morning Practice and finished it in just under two weeks. So it’s, it’s really quick. That said, there’s not a lot of substance to the book.
It’s good, don’t get me wrong. It’s very motivational, especially if you just need a little kick in the butt for whatever reason. Um, but if you’re not a huge reader, you can get the same message from just searching Mel Robbins on YouTube and watching a few of her videos.
The idea is simple. You can change your life in five seconds. Before you talk yourself out of something inside your head, count backwards from five and physically move into action.
It’s simple, but it’s not easy.
You talk yourself out of things all day long, and the more you can train yourself to stop talking yourself out of those things, it can have a huge impact and change your life.
I do think it’s very inspirational and worth reading, just kind of knowing not to go in with super high expectations for the content you’re gonna get out of it. Uh, here are three of my favorite quotes in the book: “You are one decision away from a completely different life.” “It is not the biggest moves that define our lives, it is the smallest ones.” And “You can’t change the past, but in five seconds, you can change your future.”
