  1. Have you always wanted to be a writer?

Yes, from a very early age. I read comic books a lot as a kid; then I started making my own comic books. I would come up with the theme, and the characters and then draw the pictures and write the words in the talk bubbles.

  1. Have any of your books been made into audiobooks?

Yes. A new special edition of my audiobook just came out.  You can see the audiobook trailer here: https://youtu.be/vGazrKxwxN8 It is a dual narration, male and female voices. The narrators are professional SAG actors, so it is top-notch production!  The female narrator in my book, Tamika Simone also narrated the acclaimed audiobook “The Girl with Stars in Her Eyes” by Xio Axelrod – so I was overjoyed when Tamika was signed to narrate my book.

  1. What was your hardest scene to write?

The first sex scene between Luna and Stryker.

  1. How much ‘world building’ takes place before you start writing?

Quite a bit. I search for photos online that in my mind resemble my characters and each of the worlds they live in.  I print each photo out as large as possible. Then I tack every photo to the wall behind my computer. I also use a large whiteboard where I sketch out each character’s journey and arc.

  1. Do you write listening to music? If so, what music inspired or accompanied this current book?

No, I write in silence. BUT my book has musical inspiration! There are several original songs in Six Feet Apart: Love in Quarantine which Arturo Augustus wrote the lyrics and the music.  The songs from my book will be available on my social channels at some point this year.

  1. Do you have a favorite character that you have written? If so, who? And what makes them so special?

Luna James is my favorite character so far. I think many young women can identify with her.  Luna starts out meek and she slowly gathers strength from what she experiences throughout the book. Luna knows she is quirky and eventually she learns to own it.  That is the message I hope to convey through my writing.  That it’s okay to be different.  That being different is what makes a person special.
