About The Secrets of the Kings:

No mask can hide the truth…

Alex Kincaid is 24 years old and leads a relatively quiet life in a small college town. As an employee of Galen Industries, she spends her free time with her co-workers like Emma Bastian, who wants to constantly meddle in Alex’s love life. That’s what friends do, right?

But Alex is too preoccupied with the odd letter she’s received – one that grants her a large inheritance from a total stranger, including a magical mask that’s going to change Alex’s life forever.

After an attempt on her life, Alex is horrified to see the mask take the shape of her face. It’s endowed with the powers of the ancient sky deity Horus, the protector of order. But now Alex is in danger because Set, the god of storms and chaos, has vowed to take revenge against Horus for killing his lover. And since the mask fuses the personalities of its previous owners, Alex’s own identity is in danger of being lost forever.

As Alex and her friends attempt to solve the mystery, the stakes keep rising. With Set hot on Alex’s trail, not to mention her growing feelings for her co-worker Gabriel Reyes, she must thread the needle of destiny and fulfillment.

The Secrets of the Kings is a thrilling story about who we really are. Author Nora Delzelle weaves a gripping tale of ancient love and modern society into a compelling fantasy. And as the mystery is eventually revealed, one thing soon becomes clear: nomask can hide the truth.

This book was previously published under the title Death Mask.

  1. How many unpublished and half-finished books do you have?

Currently, I have two unpublished and half-finished novels. They are both fantasy genre books. I am planning to publish one of them next year (2022.)

  1. What kind of research do you do, and how long do you spend researching before beginning a book?

I do spend a lot of time researching the facts for my novels. As a reader, I love when genuine events are incorporated into a story, so I do the same thing. I mostly do internet research, watch tons of documentaries (my favorite kind of TV), and check reference books.

  1. Do you read your book reviews? How do you deal with bad or good ones?

I read all my reviews, and it’s terrible and wonderful at the same time. When I receive a good review, it’s the best feeling. When I get a bad review, it feels awful. I pay attention to the bad reviews, though, because there is usually a valid critique.

  1. What is your favorite childhood book?

Wow. This is a tricky question. I loved hundreds of books, and people constantly astound me with their creativity. I can narrow it down to three choices from when I was young. The first is Ray Bradbury’s Something Wicked this way Comes because I loved Jim’s and Will’s friendship. I was a lonely kid and could identify. The second pick is Frank Herbert’s Dune for the epic world-building. I always wanted to be a Bene Gesserit witch. Finally, I loved Salem’s Lot by Stephen King. His depiction of the Lot reminds me of the area where I grew up, though I don’t believe it was infested with vampires, at least not yet.

  1. What inspired you to start writing?

I am in my 50’s now, and I had always wanted to write a book. One day, I realized I was about the age of my father when he passed away. I did not want to end up regretting things I did not accomplish in life, and so I started to write a story.

  1. Where can readers purchase your books?

Readers can buy my book, The Secrets of the Kings, at Amazon, Barnes and Noble, KOBO, Apple Books, and Google Play. Printed versions through Amazon and Barnes and Noble will soon be available.

  1. Where can readers find out more about you and your books?

I have a website where people can see what I’m up to or get in touch. I do like to hear from readers and what they think. I am still learning, so their opinions are essential.

  1. If your book was to be made into a movie, who are the celebrities that would star in it?

This is a fun question. I want Alex to be played by Zendaya. I love absolutely everything she does. I’d like Gabriel to be played by Tom Holland (naturally). I love his work as well. Set could be played by Rege-Jean Page, who is sexy and very talented.

  1. Who is the author you most admire in your genre?

Wow. This is a hard question. There are so many gifted and imaginative authors. I love Julie Kagawa’s work. Her Shadow of the Fox series is just terrific. I also really loved Holly Black’s Folk of the Air series. Everything Holly writes is magic.

  1. If you could only have one season, what would it be?

I wish it could be fall all year long. I loved the changing of the leaves, pumpkin cold-brews, Apple cider, and football games. My favorite holiday is also in October. I love Halloween. Dressing in costumes and trick-or-treating is the best.
