Author Interview with Liana Wall:

  1. Do you read your book reviews? How do you deal with bad or good ones?
Feedback and reviews are so important. Not only does it help other readers decide if the book is for them but It also helps with understanding the market audience as a writer. I take on board all reviews and make them part of my writing progression and journey.
  1. What inspired you to start writing?
Since a young age, I was always writing song lyrics and poems. Coming from a dance teaching background, I used magical creatures and imagination in my children’s dance classes. The idea of fairies living under the floorboards was the starting platform for The Wishing Well Collection and more of the ideas naturally developed. When my parents passed away, I started to write more and found it very comforting to bring my passion for writing and ideas to life through the stories.
  1. What advice would you give a new writer, someone just starting out?
Don’t rush it. Take your time. There will be days you will have a great writing day, then some days not so much. It should be an enjoyable experience and a chance for you to show off your creativity and talents.
  1. How do you handle writer’s block?
Firstly, I tend not to worry and get upset over it. If I have a block day, I tend to do something completely different or go for a walk to clear my head. After some time and once recharged, it does come back and I find I am then on a great roll again!
  1. What does success mean to you? What is the definition of success?
To me, success means being a role model and helping others doing what you love. I found my past as a dance teacher a wonderful way to help others with their professional growth and development. That is why I continued with The Wishing Well Collection stories of magic and positivity for the young reader. I hope these stories can help them develop a positive mindset that they take with them and use in their everyday life.
  1. Are you on social media and can your readers interact with you?
Yes, I am very active on social media platforms and love hearing from other authors and readers.
  1. When writing a series how do you keep things fresh, for both your readers and also yourself?
Exploring new ideas and adventures for the characters. I like to take my readers on new exciting journeys and in doing so they meet new characters along the way. I have a lot of character ideas that I develop a story around with keeping the theme of positivity. The Wishing Well Collection does have an ethos and concept around each book. The first “Believe and you shall find” offers stories based on keywords, Hope, Courage, Love, Truth, and Dreams. The sequel continues this motif and keeps with the Wishing Well Collection purpose.
  1. Do you have a favorite character that you have written? If so, who? And what makes them so special?
So far, the majority of the characters are fairies and animals. Tilly is the human ballerina and I hear she is a favourite with some of the readers. I have added more characters for the second book but so far I think Glow the yellow fairy of dreams is my favourite. She is the youngest of the fairies but with the biggest ambitions. I can relate to her well being a dancer and chasing my dreams, plus, she does have a flying unicorn called Goldie who watches and looks after her! …who wouldn’t want a magical unicorn? haha!
  1. Where do you get your inspiration?
From my past and my love for magic and fairy tales. I was raised by the kindest parents and grandparents who taught me about positivity, kindness, and care. I hope this comes across in the stories to help, encourage and inspire the young reader. (and for anyone who loves magic and fairies)
  1. Where can readers find out more about you and your books?
Either the main Wishing Well Collection website www.thewishingwellcollection.com or at bookstores online. If anyone would like a signed copy then please contact me on social media or via the contact area on the main website and I will be delighted to sign a copy personally for you.
