About the book (from Amazon):

Marina’s relationships have a rocky history, with a controlling mother, distant sister, and a string of lousy boyfriends. In the midst of her troubles, Marina’s family discovers her four-year-old nephew, Christopher, is diagnosed with a life-threatening illness. Her mother orders her to go to the Greek island of Santorini to retrieve her great-grandmother’s wonder-working icon of Saints Anna and Mary for healing of her nephew. Fearing Christopher’s condition and desiring separation from her family, Marina accepts the trip with little deliberation. But when she reaches the island and the church that houses the icon, she finds it’s been stolen. Marina recruits a high school English teacher vacationing on the island, to help her search for her great-grandmother’s precious heirloom. During the search, she finds more than the icon.

Author Interview with Dorothy Robey:

  1. First of all, Dorothy or Dot?
  1. How many books have you written?
    Eight (one published so far)

    Which is your favorite?
That’s a hard question. I have many “favorites”, even though you can only have one favorite. Ha ha. I have four favorites at this time: What She Didn’t Know, Painted With Good Intentions, Passage of Promise, and Behind the Stone House (all of which are in the revision process, have been published, or are about to be).
  1. When did you know you wanted to be a writer?
    Age thirteen
  1. What books or authors have most influenced your own writing?
Kristin Hannah, Nora Roberts, Rachel Joyce, and Jodi Picoult
  1. What comes first, the plot or characters?
  1. You have written/published under a pen name. Tell us about the difference in the books you write under your real name versus the pen name.
My debut novel was published under my real name, but the rest of my books will be under my pen name for two reasons: 1) I like my pen name. 🙂 and 2) I’m going through a divorce and will likely change my surname back to my maiden name in the coming year or two.
  1. What does literary success look like to you?
Writing the book, publishing it, and having a devoted readership, who are moved by and enjoy my stories.
  1. If you could tell your younger writing self anything, what would it be?
You did the right thing in putting aside your writing and going to business college. After eighteen years of life – husband and children – in God’s time, you came back to your writing, which was the right time. God’s time always is.
  1. What are you reading now?
    When We Believed in Mermaids
  1. As a fellow Coloradoan, I have to ask…can you share your best mountain pic?
Yes. It was taken by my husband when we vacationed at Estes Park a year ago.

Thanks, Dorothy!
