While brainstorming in 2006, board members of Odeo (podcasting co.) came up with idea of sending short code SMS to communicate with group.

 

FACEBOOK:

There’s a movie on this one! In 2004 Harvard student Mark Zuckerberg created the code for new website he called “thefacebook.com.”

 

LINKEDIN:

A social networking platform for professionals, developed in the living room of co-founder Reid Hoffman, officially launched in 2003.

 

YOUTUBE:

Founded in 2005 by 3 employees of PayPal, sparked by an idea after experiencing difficulty sharing a video that had been shot at a party.
